Jerry Henberger, My Story
First and most important thing about me is that, I value family and integrity above all else. I am a proud parent of two beautiful daughters who we raised in Orange County. Later in life I was blessed and married an amazing woman who also has two daughters. Now we have four wonderful daughters and two beautiful grandchildren. As a younger father I blended a professional life with devotion to my children. I was their softball coach, soccer coach and even a girls high school basketball coach, right here in Orange County. We spend time together in Mexico, skiing at Mammoth and enjoy watching their lives thrive and grow. In 2002 my real estate career was focused on successfully selling commercial wineries, business opportunities and luxury homes. Having a strong desire to give back to my community I took a ten year sabbatical from real estate to offer my professional skills to non-profit work. My goal was to help children, those with medical needs and finally our senior community. I began my journey as a director for Scripps Mercy Hospital Foundation, focused on raising money for the hospital. Over a five year journey our team raised $35 million dollars, helping fund a modern, new emergency room. With most of my family in Orange County, I then took the position of Chief Development Officer with Orange County’s Big Brothers Big Sisters – raising operating funds to support underserved children. My final stop was to improve the life of those living with Parkinson’s disease. My grandfather had Parkinson’s and being the gentleman he was, he never complained but I saw Parkinson’s slowly changed his posture, he had tremors and suffered in silence. That five year journey included once again, raising money. This time we were able to direct it to create medical research opportunities, the first counseling center for people with all neurologic diseases and we offered education and support for the nearly 100,000 people living with PD in Southern California. After my ten years of public service concluded, I am proud that my daughters are serving others as a first responders, a mother, in financial services and as an educator. Still community minded, I am working on your behalf for Mission Viejo’s community wide association in a position known as a delegate. (We have 11 delegates in the city). We elect board members, oversee the environmental conditions of the City, maintaining common area landscaping and community parks. This year, the City Counsel appointed me to a leadership position for the Mission Viejo Olympic Committee. Our goal is to try and bring Olympic activities to the City. I now serve as the Vice President for REMAX Premier Realty, helping build wealth for my clients through real estate services. Thank you for having the interest in me and my personal life.
